Separately, the Illinois Recycling Association encourages membership from people interested in working on legislative efforts related to select recycling issues. These two distinct organizations serve different but complementary roles in promoting recycling initiatives in Illinois.

As Illinois prepares for its upcoming election cycle, the Illinois Recycling Association (IRA) is taking decisive steps to ensure that environmental sustainability remains a top priority. To promote transparency and accountability, the IRA has announced that political candidates seeking the association’s endorsement must complete a comprehensive questionnaire outlining their positions on critical issues related to recycling, waste management, and environmental protection.

 

On October 1, 2024 the Illinois Recycling Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Illinois Chicago, and Loyola University Chicago hosted a comprehensive “Lunch and Learn” webinar focused on the institution’s recycling and sustainability initiatives. The session aimed to educate the campus community about ongoing efforts to minimize waste and promote environmentally responsible practices.

The webinar provided a platform for the university’s sustainability team to share significant progress, current challenges, and future goals related to recycling and waste management.

Springfield, IL — September 5 — The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Recycle Coach have teamed up to provide residents access to digital technology, aimed at revolutionizing waste management across the state. The llinois EPA is committed to help all Illinois residents understand how to properly recycle or dispose of household materials. This initiative will include a statewide study, a tool kit, an interactive map, and a smartphone app to identify recyclables and what to do with non-recyclables. The tool kit, map, and app will each be tailored to the unique opportunities available to participating communities.
